Larry Bell

  • 1939

Larry Bell’s earliest works were monochrome, Abstract Expressionist paintings as well as shaped canvases with polygonal forms. In the early 1960s he started to add clear and mirrored glass to his paintings as a way to explore spatial complexity and in 1963 Bell moved away from two-dimensional compositions and started to make three-dimensional cubes with glass and Plexiglas.
